RolePlayGateway?

Welcome, Human
You have finally been awoken.

Let your Initiation begin.
If you are viewing this screen, the time has come for you to join your Community. Your Community is a small civilization of Humanity that has been stabilized in the ruins of ancient mankind. Our year and date is !1/2^/3@## ...
{Malfunction Reported to Technology Hub}

One thousand years ago, mankind came face to face with a species of life known as the Gatherers. These humanoid beings took volunteering men and women as samples of Humanity and just as soon faded back into space. Mankind never documented contact with enigmatic creatures again. Several dozens of years later, Earth was struck by a meteor of colossal size, promptly engulfing major masses of land in water and destroying all life across the rest of the planet.

Once the destruction of the planet had settled and land reemerged from the raging seas, new life spread across the world's surface. The meteor had carried with it strains of undeveloped life which had rapidly grown and adapted to the conditions of Earth. Many of these species have thrived in the ruins of ancient human civilization, adopting the crude technologies. Some species of higher intelligence have even evolved these technologies into a quality above and beyond anything ever created in Humanity's first age.

All along, the Gatherers' plan had been to reassert the human species on Earth and allow them to once more prosper on their planet. The Gatherers know of the Great Enemy and its eternal hunger to consume all. The Great Enemy is restless in its mission. The creatures that plague the surface of Earth are descendants of the Great Enemy, and while the Gatherers know not the true identity of their ominous foe, they are aware that for many thousands of years, creatures just like the ones on Earth have plagued other planets suitable for life, and for those same thousands of years, the Gatherers have taken up the role of keepers of balance, collecting beings from all species and implanting them back in their homes once time enough has passed for the planets to be reclaimed.

It is from those points on that the native inhabitants of their worlds must battle to retake what is theirs. The Gatherers have never actively taken part in combat, only supplying those they support with the proper equipment and homes to fight their own battles. Truly, it is a rare thing to ever lay eyes on a Gatherer. Only a privileged few have ever been granted the opportunity to do so.

The relationship between Gatherers and Saved, a title for the beings who have been taken and put back into place by the Gatherers, is simple. Each species of Saved serves their Community, furthering it with information gained in the fields of exploration, experimentation, and combat. This information is given to the Community via Technology Hubs, generally a vast structure located in the center of the Community. From here, it is sent to the Gatherers, who are ever thoughtful in finding new ways to rid space of the Great Enemy.

Once the Gatherers feel a species has sufficiently reconquered their world and provided all of the information they can, they leave to further their cause amongst other worlds, gifting the freshly taken world with only a small team of Guardians to keep a watchful eye over everything and report to the Gatherers should they ever come into contact with the Great Enemy or more of its descendants.

You are Saved. It is your Duty to reclaim your world.
You will encounter many things. Some will be bizarre. Some mysterious. Others, seemingly nothing.
Everything is something though.
Whether it is an ancient remnant of your civilization, no more than a small trinket, or a vast fortress constructed by your enemies, it is your Duty to take what is yours.
It is your Duty to investigate things seemingly forbidden, dangerous, or otherwise beyond the scope of your comprehension.
It is your Duty to slay the descendants of the Great Enemy, for he is all-consuming.
It is your right to survive and prosper.
You are Saved, and now it is your time to Save your world.
Uploading your mind with knowledge and ability vital to your role in the new life.

----------
Welcome to my RP!
As you may suspect by now, this is a Science-Fiction Fantasy RP. The intro may seem dry, but it is my intention to properly release my full scope of imagination into this game, and I would like you to be a part of it. I will do my very best to provide an enjoyable and thrilling experience for all who decide to take part.

Now, in case you may not have understood the concept I am going for, this is a Basic Summary:
You are a remnant of humanity who has been Saved by an advanced, space-faring civilization so that you can retake Earth from an alien menace descending from something known as the Great Enemy. You, along with thousands of other humans, survive in a small area called the Community. From here, you stage expeditions out into the wild of Earth to fend off alien creatures, retake land, and investigate the mysteries that followed these aliens from wherever they came from. You are, for lack of a better term, an Explorator.

To add to this, you will be aided by the Gatherers, the ones who saved you, through advanced equipment. Special types of tools, weapons, clothing and armor, and even vehicles. All of your gear will be designed with Humans in mind, and as such, should be easy to imagine in your head. A gun will look like a gun. A large, multi-wheeled truck will be just that.

Now, one thing to take note of is that, of course not EVERYONE in the Community is one of the Explorators. There has to be someone providing all of the needs within the Community too. The Gatherers can't do ALL of that for you. After all, they want you to survive on your own. Everything eventually leads up to Humanity standing on its own feet again. Despite all of that though, if you play this RP, your character will be an Explorator. You will be one of the ones leaving the safe confines of the Community to take back Earth. As such, you will have abilities honed to that specific style of life. This doesn't mean you can't specialize in a specific type of ability, however.

But most of all, if you join, I want you to have fun.

And I suppose this brings us to the final step, actually creating your characters

I don't want anything fancy. As it is, you virtually don't have a background.

Just do something along the lines of this:

Name:
Gender:
Appearance:
Abilities:
Gear:

That will be enough. And as far as gear goes, there are several basic things that everyone will get. Here they are.

Basic Gear
Explorator Armor: This is a unique set of armor aesthetically and physically catered to the individual that it belongs to. All suits serve two common purposes though: To protect the wearer from small amounts of physical harm and to purify the air that the wearer breathes.

Torch: A high-heat energy tool used for cutting through solid objects.

Nutrient-dispenser: An advanced technological device built into an Explorator's suit which allows them to gain necessary nutrients and water from a very small amount of consumables over the course of several days.

Repel-system: A tool combining locking mechanisms and rope for both ascending and descending great heights.

Backpack and Webgear: For which to carry extra items into and out of the wild.

Hazard-Case: A case to be used for storing extremely volatile items to be brought back to the Community.

Next up is the specialized gear which you can take any of as long as you feel it caters toward what exactly you want your character to do

Specialized Gear
-Weapons-
Handgun: A small, single handed weapon that serves as a backup.

Shotgun: A close range, spread shot weapon that inflicts massive damage on those who are two close

Explorator Rifle: A weapon designed to take out foes from a fair distance. Can be fired as single-shot or four-round burst.

Assault Rifle: An automatic weapon best suited to spraying ammunition at foes short to medium distances away.

Particle Weapon: An extremely long ranged weapon used for firing from hidden areas and high-ground, often deadly enough to take out enemies hundreds of yards away. Uses an advanced firing mechanism to utilize the force of friction alone and produce a lightning-esque bolt of extremely high power.

Powerblade: A blade, varying in size, that wields contains Gatherer technology allowing it to slice through most unarmored objects with relatively no resistance. Foes wearing thicker armor, or buildings and bulkheads, provide substantially more resistance.

Tracking Kit: A small set of tools used for locating trails left behind by creatures or other things, and also for collecting and gathering suitable foods and liquids should a Nutrient-Dispenser become depleted.

Holo-Glove: An interfacing device that directly links the wearer's mind to any form of technology, allowing them to interact with technology through the use of their mind via electric stimulus from the technology through the wearer's nervous-system to their brain.

Multi-purpose Sphere: A small sphere a Rubix Cube-esque design, able to be clicked into position to activate several different modes. Light-mode allows the sphere to be used as a light in extremely dark places. It will hover around next to the one who activated, illuminating the area around him/her. Fragmentation-mode allows the device to be used as a thrown bomb whose blast is deadly to any close by. Recon-mode allows the sphere to covertly scout ahead for several minutes before reporting back to its owner with its findings. Lastly, Messenger-mode can be used to send messages back to the Community without forcing the Explorator to return, allowing him/her more time in wild. Note that the Sphere's are only lost if you use them as a Fragmentation or Messenger device.

For now, this is it. More can be added later. If you are interested, PLEASE, join. Once there are enough people involved (At least three others aside from myself), I will provide an OOC and an IC thread and we can start.
