Maine football coach posts nude photo on Facebook

Things that sadden me: when adults make rookie mistakes on social media. By now everyone should know that you don?t post nude photos of yourself to Facebook or Twitter, unless you want strangers in Iceland looking at your naughty bits, or are a member of Congress. And especially not if you?re in a position of responsibility with young people. Just keep your junk in the trunk, OK coaches and teachers? Unfortunately, the word has not yet reached Maine, apparently. Hey, they just recently got cable.

Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School football coach Paul Withee resigned his positions as coach and middle school science and math teacher on Monday, a week after he posted a nude photo of himself on Facebook.

School Superintendent Rick Colpitts says Withee intended to send the explicit photo to a friend but ended up making it public to his Facebook friends. Colpitts says the photo was posted for 10 minutes, which was long enough to be seen by a parent who brought it to the school administrators? attention.

The amazing thing about this is that the photo was live on Facebook for all of 10 minutes, but that was long enough for the hounds of retribution to be unleashed.

?Did you guys see coach Withee naked on Facebook??

?That was so 26 seconds ago.?

From the Merced Sun Star:

?He?s contrite and apologetic,? Colpitts said. ?It?s disappointing. We?re all disappointed. Even when it?s a mistake, there are still consequences. That?s really the story here.?
